  • Consul General of US Consulate General in Wuhan Visits Baiji Dolphinarium

    Mr. Joseph Zadrozny, consul general of Consulate General of the United States in Wuhan, watched the Yangtze finless porpoises, Nov. 30, 2016. 

    A three-member delegation led by Mr. Joseph Zadrozny, consul general of Consulate General of the United States in Wuhan, paid a visit to Baiji Dolphinarium at Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IHB) on Nov. 30, 2016. Consul Jonathan Adams and Ms. ZHOU Ling, assistant to the consul general for economic and political affairs were in the delegation.    

    Prof. WANG Ding from IHB introduced the living status of the Yangtze finless porpoises, the challenges they face and the measures that had been taken to save the endangered species. Mr. Joseph Zadrozny watched the porpoises through the window and interacted with Prof. Wang on issues related to the living habits and breeding of the porpoises, the conservation of the ecological environment of the Yangtze River, production and occupation shift of fishermen and fishing ban in the Yangzte River.    

    Mr. Joseph Zadrozny then introduced how America protected its ecological environment esp. some experience accumulated during the construction of its National Park. He also said that the US Consulate General in Wuhan would like to build a bridge between Chinese and US scientists to promote the protection of ecological environment and endangered species.
