Dr. SUSAN P.C. COLE from Queen's university, Canada visited IHB on November 10th, 2017.

Dr. SUSAN P.C. COLE from Queen's university, Canada visited Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of Chinese Academy of Sciences on November 10th, 2017. During her visit, she gave an oral presentation with the title of “Human MRP4 (ABCC4) Transporter Variants and their potential impact on Arsenic toxicity.”

Dr. COLE introduced the drug sensitivity and toleration of molecular which mediated by the ATP binding cassette (ABC) superfamily transporters, revealing the human MRP4 transporter (ABCC4) mutant and the potential impact on the toxicity of arsenic. The ABC superfamily is an ancient and large family, a class of ATP drive pump consisting of transmembrane structures and two cytoplasmic ATP binding domains. Dr. COLE also introduced the small molecule drugs of how to screen and regulate MRP activity and the related questions of MRP gene polymorphism.

Dr. SUSAN P.C. COLE is professor of Queen's university, Canada, Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences. She is former vice president of Queen's University and is now serving as the chairman of the Bracken Institute of Genetic and Molecular Medicine at Queen's University. She has published 228 articles in Science and other publications and has been cited more than 19,000 times.
