Professor Laodong Guo from the University of Wisconsin visited IHB on April 25, 2019.

Professor Laodong Guo from the University of Wisconsin visited Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of Chinese Academy of Sciences on April 25, 2019 and gave an oral presentation entitled "Changing Phosphorus Cycling Induced by Invasive Species in Lake Michigan".

Prof. Guo shared his experience in scientific research in the United States, and introduced the cycle of phosphorus in the waters of the Great Lakes about sources and transformations of phosphorus, and the particle size distribution and release flux.

According to the long-term ecological research in the Great Lakes, Prof. Guo proposed the hypothesis of the spread of bio-invasive species: Quagga mussel is the cause of changes in phosphorus cycle in Michigan Lake.

In addition, Prof. Guo also conducted in-depth academic exchanges with researchers from algae resources, and algae toxicology and environmental biochemistry teams during his visit.

Prof. Guo is the director of the executive committee of Freshwater Sciences School of the University of Wisconsin, Associate Editor of "Frontiers in Environmental Science-Biogeochemical Dynamics". Meanwhile, he is an editorial board of several journals such as Scientific Reports, Water and Journal of Marine Science and Engineering.
