Prof Aaron Kaplan from Hebrew University of Jerusalem (Israel) delivered a keynote speeches during his visit to IHB.

The Sino-Israel Joint Symposium on Cyanobacterial Blooms Control and Biological Soil Crusts, organized by the Key Laboratory of Algal Biology under Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Center for Algal Biology and Applied Research under Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of CAS, was held on November 4, 2019.

12 speeches covering diverse aspects in cyanobacterial bloom study and control and biological soil crusts were presented at the symposium. There were more than 100 participants attended the symposium. Prof. MIAO Wei, vice director of IHB, gave a welcome speech.

Prof. LIU Yongding from IHB and Prof Aaron Kaplan from Hebrew University of Jerusalem (Israel) delivered the keynote speeches respectively. Prof. Assaf Sukenik from Kinneret Limnological Laboratory, Israel Oceanographic & Limnological Research, Prof. YAN Hai from University of Science and Technology Beijing, Dr. DAI Guozheng from Central China Normal University, Dr. DAI Guofei from Jiangxi Provincial Institute of Water Science as well as related experts from IHB presented oral speeches.

Among IHB speakers, Prof. HU Chunxiang, Prof. GAN Nanqin, Prof. BI Yonghong, Dr. YU Gongliang, Dr. WU Xingqiang and Dr. JIA Yunlu reported their recent progresses. This joint symposium presented the recent progress and technological developments from both countries in the field of cyanobacterial blooms control and biological soil crusts from difference aspects.

Since 2015, IHB and Israel Oceanographic & Limnological Research have carried out collaborative project on cyanobacterial ecology and control. This joint symposium further consolidated and strengthened the cooperation between China and Israel in algae biology and algae ecology. Supported by China-Israel international cooperation projects, Prof. SONG Lirong (IHB) and Prof. Assaf Sukenik (KLL), the coordinators, are working together to find new techniques to solve the urgent cyanobacterial blooms facing to both countries.
