General Introduction:

Research interests of the Research Group of Freshwater Algal Ecology are the effects of anthropogenic physical/chemical/biological disturbance on the structure, function and health of the freshwater ecosystem. It focuses on algal ecology and freshwater ecology involved in all kinds of hydro-engineering.

This group does many researches on algal biodiversity, geographic distribution, community structure and its succession, algal ecological functions, algal blooms occurring mechanisms and its control measurements, the mechanism of eutrophication and its countermeasure, and drinking water treatments.

Fruitful achievements have been achieved in the fields of algae biology, large-scale cultivation, extraction and utilization of active substances, prevention and control of algal bloom, and application of algae in aquaculture and the treatment of wastewater.
