General Introduction:
The Research Group of Downstream Process Technology and Engineering of Microalgae mainly focuses on real time monitoring of harmful algal species/toxins in drinking water reservoir for the early warning, and algae bloom prevention, mitigation and control using harvesting technologies such as filtration and flotation. It is also engaged in microalgal biomass dewatering, drying and resource utilization, large-scale cultivation, water and nutrient recycling, nutrients uptake using microalgae, and other basic and applied theories study and engineering practices.
This group has more than 100 analytical and testing instrument for algae cultivation, harvesting testing, algae cell surface characterization, algogenic organic matter (AOM) fractionation and characterization, etc. Currently, it has more than 20 team members including researchers, assistant researchers, postdoctoral fellows, research assistants, graduate and postgraduate students.
Over the past few years, this group has won more than 15 projects from renowned national and international funding agencies such as the National Key Research and Development Program, Water Pollution Control and Treatment Science and Technology Major Project, National Natural Science Foundation of China, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Meanwhile, it also has patented more than 20 inventions nationally and internationally and has published more than 50 SCI papers which are cited more than 2000 times.
