General Introduction: 

Focusing on the frontiers of environmental science and national & social needs, the Research Group of Purification and Restoration Ecology is committed to the research and engineering applications of novel constructed wetlands and water ecological restoration.  

It has been carrying on many projects including the “eighth five-year” National Key Scientific and Technological Projects, the International Cooperation Projects (INCO) of the Europe Union, the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, the National High Technology Research and Development Program of China (863 Program), the 11th, 12th and 13th Five-year Major Science and Technology Program for Water Pollution Control and Treatment, Key Program of NSFC and so on.  

Researchers from this group have gained systematic scientific research and engineering application achievements. In addition to one second prize of National Award of Science and Technology Progress, they won 10 provincial and ministerial awards, three China Patent Excellence Awards, one Patent Gold Award of Hubei Province; published more than 400 academic papers and three monographs; and own more than 60 authorized patents.  

They designed or constructed more than 300 projects, including the “Constructed Wetland in Beijing Olympic Forest Park”, “Water Ecological Restoration Project in West Lake, Hangzhou”, “Wetland Ecological Project in Yanling, Dongguan”, and “Restoration projects of the Six Lakes Water Body in Hanyang, Wuhan”, covering 22 provinces, cities and autonomous regions. They also initiated and held the Cross-Strait Constructed Wetland serial symposiums and the first International Training Course on Water Environmental Protection and Water Pollution Control.
