Born in 1935.

Graduated from the Department of Biology at Wuhan University in 1956.

Winner of Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Fellowships and Awards during 1981 and 1983.

He was a visiting scholar of the Infectious Disease and Tropical Medicine at University of Munich, and a professor of South China Sea Institute of Oceanology under Chinese Acasdemy of Sciences.
