The Fourth Seminar on China-Thailand Joint Laboratory on Microbial Biotechnology

The Fourth Seminar on China -Thailand Joint Laboratory on Microbial Biotechnology was held at Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of Chinese Academy of Sciences during May 29-30, 2019.
The officials and scientists from National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) and its affiliated National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC), the Thai Institute of Science and Technology (TISTR), Institute of Microbiology of Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMCAS) and IHB conducted in-depth discussions on yeast evolution and biotechnology applications, waste water, microalgae, fungal biodiversity, microbial genomics.
IHB’s deputy director Prof. MIAO Wei and Prof. LIU Shuangjiang, director of IMCAS, gave welcome speeches at the opening ceremony. Dr. Lily Eurwilaichitr, acting vice president of NSTDA, delivered a speech and introduced the development history of the China-Thailand Joint Laboratory.
Scientists from both China and Thailand gave presentations on their respective research progress. Later, they discussed on issues related to research cooperation and academic exchanges and training.
The China-Thailand Joint Laboratory on Microbial Biotechnology was established on January 17, 2017. It held its first seminar in Beijing on September 18, 2017. The themes of the seminar are to push forward the collaborative research in the fields of yeast evolution and biotechnology applications, waste water treatment, microalgae, fungal biodiversity, microbial genomics, and microbial industrial biotechnology.
