Professor of National University of Singapore Visits IHB
Prof. HONG Yunhan from National University of Singapore paid a visit to Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IHB), Dec 27.
On December 27, Prof. HONG Yunhan from National University of Singapore paid a visit to Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IHB). During his two-day’s visit, he delivered a lecture entitled "Fish stemcell technologies and virus prevention and control technologies”.
Prof. Hong introduced the latest breakthrough in fish stemcell technologies and virus prevention and control technologies. In 2009, Hong and his partners generated the first semi-cloning fish, the fish “Holly” by stemcell technologies. The mosaic oocytes created by combining a mitotic nucleus and a meiotic nucleus can generate fertile fish offspring and the haploid ES cells stably maintain normal growth, pluripotency, and genomic integrity. IHB researchers and students listened to Prof. Hong’s lecture and interacted with him on issues of mutual interest.
After the lecture, Prof. Hong visited the Research Group of Fish Developmental Genetics and Cell Engineering, and expressed his will to widen and deepen the cooperation with IHB in some related fields.
