Prof. Kálmán Molnár from Hungary Visits IHB

 
Prof. Kálmán Molnár, a well-know fish parasitologist, paid a visit to the Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IHB) on Nov 22.
 

Prof. Kálmán Molnár, a well-know fish parasitologist, paid a visit to the Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IHB) on Nov 22. During his visit, he delivered a lecture entitled “Sanitary management in Hungarian aquaculture” to the IHB audiences. 

Prof. Molnár firstly introduced the main freshwater reared fish species and aquaculture model in Hungary and gave a brief review of communication history between Hungarian aquaculture and Chinese aquaculture. And then, he gave a comprehensive introduction on the diseases of common carp caused by viruses, bacteria and parasites in Hungary. A focus of his lecture was made on a winter skin disease (WSD) of common carp caused by an identified pathological agent. The nice pictures in the lectures gave a deep impression to all audiences. After the lecture, Prof. Molnár had a deep communication with researcher and graduated students in Healthy Aquaculture of IHB, focusing on the morphology, taxonomy, phylogeny and life cycle of fish myxosporean parasites. This visit promotes further communication in fish diseases, especially in fish parasitology between researchers in Hungary and China.  

Kálmán Molnár is an emeritus Professor of Veterinary Medical Research Institute, Hungarian Academy of Sciences (HAS) and member of science committee of HAS. He has published more than 350 papers in peer-reviewed journals on the fish parasitology and also are current editor of Acta Veterinary Science of Hungary; Irainian Journal of Fishery Sciences; Diseases of Aquatic Organisms; Systematical Parasitology; Acta Protozoologica.
