Delegation from King Saud University in Saudi Arabia Visits IHB

 
A three-member delegation led by Dr. Al-Quraishy, the dean of Department of Zoology, King Saud University (KAS), paid a visit to IHB from Jun. 8 to 23, 2013.
 

Dr. Al-Quraishy, the dean of Department of Zoology, King Saud University (KAS), together with Dr. Al-Farraj and Dr. Abdel-Azeem, paid a visit to Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IHB) from Jun. 8 to Jun. 23. 2013.  

During their visit, intensive discussion was conducted on the diversity, taxonomy, phylogeny and phylogeography of fish myxosporean and mcirosporidian in Red Sea and Arabic Gulf and hepatozoon, eimerian and isoporan of reptiles and amphibians in Saudi Arbia between KAS and IHB.  

To further promote the cooperation between both sides, an agreement for co-applying grants from China-Saudi Arabia international cooperation project and King Saudi Technology and Science Ministry was made on the diversity of fish parasitic microsporidian in Red Sea and Arabic Gulf and molecular epidemiology of sacrocystis of sheep in Saudi Arabia.   

Additionally, Dr. Al-Quraishy, Dr. Al-Farraj and Dr. Abdel-Azeem had a good communication with IHB researchers on the isolation techniques, taxonomy and phylogeny of fish parasitic Trichodina. 


On Jun 23, Dr. Zhang Jinyong guided the guests to several laboratories, Museum for Aquatic Organisms, China Zebrafish Resources Center in IHB. The academic achievements and state- of -the-art equipments in IHB gave them deep impression.
