IHB Researchers Attend 7th International Conference on Marine Pollution and Ecotoxicology

The 7th International Conference on Marine Pollution and Ecotoxicology was held from 17 to 21 June 2013 at the University of Hong Kong. More than 250 scholars from 24 countries and regions attended the conference. Prof. Zhou Bingsheng, together with his two doctoral students Han Jian and Wang Qiangwei, from Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IHB), was present at the conference. Prof. Zhou, as an invited speaker, gave a keynote presentation entitled “Thyroid endocrine disruption and developmental neurotoxicity in zebrafish exposed to PBDEs”. Two doctoral students presented posters respectively.  

The conference aimed to advance the participants' understanding of local, regional and global marine pollution problems and their solutions, with the hope that such problems may be more easily solved in the future. Five scientific themes were featured at the conference: 1. Climate changes and marine ecosystems; 2. Endocrine disrupting chemicals and issues of emerging concern; 3. Hypoxia and eutrophication; 4. Innovative technologies for pollution monitoring and control; 5. Risk assessment and management.
