Prof. Santosh P. Lall from National Research Council of Canada Visits IHB

 
Prof. Santosh P. Lall from National Research Council of Canada paid a visit to IHB on Oct. 17.
 

Dr. Santosh P. Lall, a Professor of aquaculture and fish nutrition working at National Research Council of Canada, paid a visit to Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IHB) on Oct. 17. During his visit, he gave an oral presentation entitled “Fish nutrition and aquaculture feeds: current issues and new perspectives”. 

Dr. Lall systematically introduced fish’s needs of nutrition such as protein, fat and vitamins at different phases of their life history. He analyzed the utilization of fish meal and fish oil as aquaculture feeds in a global view and talked about the substitutes of fish meal and fish oil if insufficient nutritional resources occurs. Dr. Lall’s views on the studies of fish nutrition and its future development inspired the audience a lot. At the discussion session, the audience discussed with Dr. Lall on the problems they encounter during their experiments and exchanged views on the future development of aquaculture and fish nutrition.  

Dr. Lall is now Professor of National Research Council of Canada. His study in aquaculture and fish nutrition has evident influence around the world. He also served on several region, national and international review and advisory committees in the past two decades.
