IHB Researchers Attend 17th Workshop of the International Association of Phytoplankton Taxonomy and Ecology
The 17th Workshop of the International Association of Phytoplankton Taxonomy and Ecology was held in Kastoria, Greece during Sept. 13 and 22, 2014. The workshop was organized by the Aristotle Unviersity of Thessaloniki. More than 80 algal taxonomists and ecologists attended the workshop. Drs. LI Dunhai and BI Yonghong from Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IHB) attended the workshop.
Dr. LI Dunhai presented their work carried out in Chaohu Lake with the title of “The trophic state of lake water regulates the spatio-temporal variation of bloom-forming Microcystis and cell-bound microcystins” at the poster session. Dr. BI Yonghong gave an oral presentation with the title of “The habitat heterogeneity determines anthropogenic impact on phytoplankton communities in the middle and lower reaches of Hanjiang River”.
This workshop mainly centered on the field of algal taxonomy and algal ecology, covering topics including Biogeography-dispersal/colonization; Biogeography-patterns; cyanobacteria; Ecology of Traits and Biodiversity; Species composition and temporal change. Attendees interacted with each other on topics of mutual interest.
