Xiangxi River Ecosystem Experimental Station Recognized as International S&T Cooperation Base for Reservoir, River Ecology and Watershed Ecosystem in Hubei
With the certification of the Hubei Department of Science and Technolog, Xiangxi River Ecosystem Experimental Station which is affiliated to Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of Chinese Academy of Sciences, was recognized as the International S&T Cooperation Base for Reservoir, River Ecology and Watershed Ecosystem in Hubei this May.
Hubei International S&T Cooperation Base is certified to be established by Hubei Department of Science and Technology. It plays an important role in undertaking the task of international scientific and technological cooperation and promoting the level of international scientific and technological cooperation in Hubei province. It also is the demonstration base for innovation. In 2019, 35 institutions and enterprises in Hubei obtained this certification.
Xiangxi River Station is the only field ecological station in China to carry out research on river/reservoir ecology and watershed ecology. Since 1996, relying on the Station, IHB conducted personnel exchanges, joint symposiums, short-term training courses and collaboration teams with Germany, Australia, France, America, Denmark, Canada, the Great Britain.
IHB scientists in the station have produced significant achievements in watershed models, integrated water resources management, assessment of freshwater ecosystems in the context of global change, response of aquatic ecosystems to the land utilization and climate change.
In 2017, the Station was approved as a scientific observation and research station under the Ministry of Environmental Protection.
