Tennis Players of Wuhan Open Visit Baiji Dolphinarium

 
Tennis players who came to attend the Wuhan Open 2019 paid a visit to Baiji Dolphinarium on September 24, 2019.    

Tennis players including Venus Williams, Kaitlyn Christian, Jennifer Brady, Storm Sanders, ZHU Lin and WANG Xiyu who came to attend the Wuhan Open 2019 paid a visit to Baiji Dolphinarium on September 24, 2019.    

ZHAO Jindong, IHB’s former director, welcomed the players and introduced IHB’s efforts in the conservation of the Yangtze River. HAO Yujiang, vice secretary general of Wuhan Baiji Conservation Foundation (WBCF), introduced the living status, conservation measures and research progress of the porpoises.    

The visiting players watched the video recording the birth and growth of F9C, the first second-generation Yangtze finless porpoise bred in artificial environment. Then they were invited to the breeding hall and watch the porpoise playing in the water.    

All the players signed their names on the souvenirs prepared by the WBCF. The souvenirs will used to raise money for the protection of the Yangtze finless porpoises via public auction.  

The Yangtze finless porpoise has become an important wild animal in China, and its protection has attracted international attention. Over the past years, many well-known celebrities including British Princess Anne visited the Baiji Dolphinarium.
