Introduction: Dr. Cunming Duan is tenured Professor of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He earned his B.S. from Ocean University of China in 1982 and his PhD from the University of Tokyo in 1991. He joined the University of Michigan faculty as an assistant professor in 1996. He was promoted to associate professor with tenure in 2002, and to full professor in 2008. Dr. Duan’s scientific expertise is in understanding the roles of hormones and growth factors in regulating cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis in early development; signal transduction mechanisms of growth factor actions; transcriptional and post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression; roles of hormones and growth factors in modulating growth, development, and longevity in response to hypoxia and nutrient restriction. He has published over 100 scientific articles on these topics. He is the founding Chief Editor for Frontiers in Experimental Endocrinology and currently serving as editor and editorial board members in several other endocrinology/physiology related journals. |
