The Mississippi and Yangtze (Changjiang) River Basins, the largest basins of North America and Asia, serve as the principal navigational waterways and main water sources, and play important economic, social, cultural, and ecological roles in the two continents. Maintaining sustainable fishery resources, biodiversity and ecosystem health are extremely important for achieving sustainability in the two basins. This symposium was developed after the first Mississippi-Yangtze River Basin Symposium at Little Rock, Arkansas, USA during the 143rd American Fisheries Society Annual Meeting in September 2013. The second symposium will include a 2-day oral presentation session and a 2-day facility and field tour. Symposium attendees will be provided with the opportunity to evaluate approaches and techniques for transferability within and between the two basins. This symposium will continue serving as a platform for the long-term plan of international scientific program consisting of collaborative studies, visiting scholars, and information exchange between the United States and China.
Main topics are:
1. Fishery resources utilization and management in river basins
2. Aquatic biodiversity and conservation
3. Ecological restoration in river basins
The abstract submission was closed on June 30, 2015.
Schedule:
