Time: 10:30, July 8, 2016
Venue: Room 506, Museum for Aquatic Organisms
Speaker: Dr. Li Jianping (Hong Kong Baptist University)
Title:
Introduction to the Lecture:
Analysis of live phytoplankton cells is of fundamental importance for phycology and aquatic ecology. Imaging flow cytometry (IFC) enjoys high resolution and high throughput advantages of traditional optical microscopy and flow cytometry simultaneously, which becomes an advanced tool for high-throughput phytoplankton analysis. In this talk, the principle of typical IFCs for phytoplankton analysis will be reviewed and their new development trend will be introduced as well. Particularly, a new type of laser-sheet based fluorescence IFC that developed by the speaker’s team will be discussed.
