Title: Using electronics to measure fat content of fish 

Introduction to the Speaker:  

F. Joseph Margraf is a fish biologist and current President of American Fisheries Society, and Professor of School of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, University of Alaska Fairbanks. He received a BS in fisheries science from Cornell University (1970) and an MS in fisheries science from the Texas A&M University (1977). Joseph worked for LGL Ecological Research Associates, TX (1977-1980), the Maryland, West Virginia, and Ohio Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Units (1980-1999), and Alaska Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit and School of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences and Institute of Arctic Biology, University of Alaska Fairbanks (1999-2009). Then he joined U.S. Geological Survey and Western Cooperative Research Units and served as president of American Fisheries Society (2009-present). Joseph has long been involved in research of using bioenergetic model and bioelectrical impedance analysis to assess fish condition. He has published over 100 total publications and major project reports since 1972.
