On July 15^th, CAS vice secretary-general Prof. Tieniu TAN, accompanied by Mr. Zhimin YUAN, vice president of Wuhan Branch (CAS) visited our institute and had a survey on the international cooperation and informationalization being carried out at our institute.

CAS vice secretary-general visited Baiji Dolphinarium and the Museum for Aquatic Organisms at IHB. He then inspected the network center.

CAS vice secretary-general communicated with IHB’s deputy directors Prof. Zhengyu HU, Prof. Shouqi XIE, Prof. Xudong XU and IHB’s working staff on issues concerning with international cooperation and informationalization.

On behalf of IHB’s leadership, IHB’s deputy director Prof. Xudong XU gave a brief introduction to the projects sponsored by international organizations over the past 5-10 years in our institute and the information works being carried out at IHB.

Prof. Xu introduced the information works from 4 aspects, i.e., ARP (Academia Resource Planning), Chinese and English Websites of IHB, supercomputing, and scientific popularization.

IHB Prof. Shunping HE, principal of fish identification database and supercomputing projects, introduced the advancement of the construction of these two projects. Prof. Xianfeng ZHANG, head of the Research Business Office proposed his suggestion on the application for international cooperation projects.

IHB Clients of ARP communicated with the visiting delegation on the problems existing in the modules of official document, financing, scientific research, human resources and asset.

CAS vice secretary-general spoke positively of the development taken place these years at IHB. IHB abounds in historical and research resources which help to enhance its overall scientific competitiveness in both China and abroad. He pointed out that IHB needs to shift its research pattern towards an informationalized orientation, to strengthen its cooperation and communication with the world and to build up a resource-sharing platform of network.
