IHB Signs a Scientific Cooperation Agreement with Huai’an Municipal Government
A three-member delegation led by IHB’s deputy director Prof. Xudong XU went to attend the 2nd Exhibition Fair of Achievements Obtained by the Combination of Production, Study and Research in Nanjing during Sept.19 to 21,2009. IHB Prof. Jianguo WANG and Prof. Xianfeng ZHANG, who is also head of the Research Business Office, were in the delegation.
IHB’s deputy director signed a scientific cooperation agreement with Mr. Changsu LU, vice mayor of Huai’an Municipal Government at the fair. Later, accompanied by leaders from Huai’an Science and Technology Bureau, Hongze Lake Fisheries Management Committee, Huai’an Forestry, Husbandry and Fishery Bureau, Management Committee of Huai’an Higher Education Zone, and Huaiyin Normal University, the three-member delegation paid visit to Huai’an Fisheries Research Institute, Huai’an Higher Education Zone, Huaiyin Normal University, Hongze Lake Fisheries Management Committee as well as some leading enterprises in the field of aquatic products processing.
According to the scientific cooperation agreement signed with Huai’an Municipal Government, IHB will take full advantage of strengths of both sides, and conduct cooperation with Huai’an in the fields of ecological environment protection and fishery sustainable development. Besides, both sides will share their technology, information and exchange faculty staff regularly so as to jointly undertake the project supported by Huai’an Science and Technology Bureau. On Aug.24, 2009, leaders from Huai’an Science and Technology Bureau, Huaiyin Normal University and Hongze Lake Fisheries Management Committee visited our institute and communicated with us on expanding cooperation fields.
Located in Huang-Huai Plain and Yangtze-Huai Plain, Huai'an borders Anhui Province to the southwest, Yangzhou to the southeast and Suqian to the west. One of the attractions of the city is Hongze Lake, the fourth largest freshwater lake in China, occupying an area of 2,069 square kilometers and has been dubbed as "Lake of Treasures". Adjacent to the Grand Canal and other three major rivers (Huaihe River, Yanhe River, and Huaishu River), Huai'an has a highly developed irrigation and water transportation system.
