The 2nd East Lake Academic Forum & 2013 Graduate Students Forum of Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IHB) were held during Oct 16 and 17 at IHB.

The 2nd East Lake Academic Forum & 2013 Graduate Students Forum of Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IHB) were held during Oct 16 and 17 at IHB. The theme of the forums is "Protection of aquatic ecological environment and utilization of aquatic resources". In total, 65 Papers from 43 institutions of China were submitted to the forum.

At the opening ceremony, Yuan Zhiming, president of Wuhan Branch, Chinese Academy of Sciences, as well as Prof. Zhao Jindong, director of IHB, gave welcome speeches respectively. 2 keynote presentations, 20 oral presentations and 10 posters were gave at the forum.

Prof. Chen Yiyu, former director of National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), gave one of the keynote presentations at the forum. His presentation was about several thinkings on hydrobiology. Prof. Hu Qiang gave another key presentation entitled "Advances and Perspectives of Microalgae-Based Fuel, Food and Feed". Prof. Zhu Zuoyan (CAS academician), tpgether with IHB's deputy directors Prof. Hu Zhengyu and Dr. Yang Xingxian participated in the forum.

On the afternoon of Oct 16, 2 parallel sessions were arranged with 20 oral presentations given at each session. IHB Prof. Gui Jianfang and Prof. Xie Ping served as heads of the peer review committee. After rigid evaluation and selection, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes as well as the "Best Poster" Award were presented to the prize winners.
