The Joint Meeting between IHB andNIGLAS was held on Nov. 24, 2013.

The Joint Meeting between Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IHB) and Nanjing Institute of Geography and Limnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (NIGLAS) was held on Nov. 24, 2013.

The joint meeting had two sessions: strategic development and academic exchanges. Both centered on the theme "Lake eutrophication and water ecology restoration". In the strategic development session, Prof. Zhao Jindong, director of IHB, as well as Prof. Yang Guishan, director of NIGLAS, introduced the historic development, personnel structure, disciplinary and S&T platform construction, the "One-Three-Five" development planning of each institute.

In the academic exchange session, 12 researchers from both institutes gave oral presentations, covering the topics of lake eutrophication, occurrence mechanisms and ecological effects of lake ecological disaster, water quality safety and ecological restoration of eutrophic lakes .

CAS academician Prof. Chen Yiyu emphasized the strategic positioning of each institute. He said that both institutes shall gain further insights into their strategic positioning of the institute. IHB shall have a better understanding of life process while NIGLAS shall widen their studies of earth sciences on a wide range of temporal and spatial scales. Prof. Chen said that both institutes shall explore complementary strengths and expand win-win cooperation so that they can have achievements in the major issues related to the historic development of the Yangtze, environmental changes of lakes and hydrobiology.
