IHB Professors Attend 10th Asia-Pacific Marine Biotechnology Conference

 
 

The 10th Asia-Pacific Marine Biotechnology Conference (2014 APMBC) was held at the International Conference Hall, Humanities & Social Sciences Building, Academia Sinica in Taiwan. At the invitation of Prof. Jen-Leih Wu, chair of the 2014 APMBC, Prof. ZHU Zuoyan (CAS academician) as well as Prof. GUI Jianfang (CAS academician) and Prof. ZHANG Qiya from Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IHB) attended this conference during May 4 and 8, 2014.    

Prof. ZHU Zuoyan gave one of the four plenary lectures at the conference. Prof. GUI Jianfang and Prof. ZHANG Qiya respectively gave oral presentations and chaired the session Biotechnology and Sustainable Aquaculture and Marine Microbiology   

The main theme of 2014 APMBC is the challenges of marine biotechnology for science, food, medicine, energy and environment. 11 main topics were featured at the conference: 1. Biotechnology and sustainable aquaculture; 2. Fish health and diseases; 3. Omics science; 4. Marine microbiology; 5. Marine bioactive compound; 6. Aquatic animal for human disease model; 7. Algal biotechnology; 8. Marine extremophiles; 9. Marine developmental biology and biodiversity; 10. Marine bioenergy; 11. Environmental biotechnology. More than 400 experts from over 20 countries and regions attended the conference.
