The Fourth Session Meeting of the First Academic Committee of the Key Laboratory of Aquatic Biodiversity and Conservation was held at IHB on July 23, 2014.

At the meeting, Prof. ZHAO Jindong (CAS academician), director of IHB, gave a welcome speech. LOU Zhiping, Professor of the CAS Bureau of Frontier Sciences and Education, introduced the evaluation performed on the key laboratories at CAS during 2014. Prof. HE Shunping, director of the Key Laboratory of Aquatic Biodiversity and Conservation, gave the 2013 annual work report from the positioning of Lab, its research directions, personnel structure, S&T outcomes and innovation, and platform construction.     

Later, Prof. XIAO Wuhan gave an oral presentation with the title of “Hypoxia signaling pathway and adaptive evolution of Hypoxia”; Prof. MIAO Wei gave an oral presentation with the title of “Epigenetic mechanism and evolution of DNA replication”; Prof. WANG Ding gave an oral presentation with the title of “Indo-Pacific humpback dolphins (Sousa chinensis) sounds, hearing and presbycusis”.

Prof. CHEN Yiyu gave important remark at the meeting.

Prof. CHEN Yiyu said the Key Laboratory of Aquatic Biodiversity and Conservation has achieved evident progress over the past four years but a much clearer view of development shall be formed. He suggested that the study on the adaptive evolution process of various aquatic animals in water ecosystem could be conducted and in the same time the conservative measures shall be formed. He also said the Lab shall strengthen its management and get well prepared for the coming-up evaluation next year.
