The 2014 First Session Meeting of Academic Committee of Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IHB) was held on July 22.

The 2014 First Session Meeting of Academic Committee of Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IHB) was held on July 22. 14 members of the academic committee attended the meeting. Prof. CHEN Yiyu (CAS academician) chaired the meeting.    

The attendees considered the rename of some research groups and decided the names of two newly established research groups. After close and careful evaluation, the committee members approved six research projects and two overseas study projects which will be funded by the young scientist funds of IHB.   

The committee members centered on the “initiative plan” which aims to push forward the function-based reform of the institute and carry out the new reform moves in the institute. All the attendees were actively involved in the discussion.   

Prof. CHEN Yiyu (CAS academician) said that IHB’s unique study in hydrobiology makes it irreplaceable in China. He suggested IHB strengthen its top-down design and conduct research oriented by the state’s demands at the both fundamental and applied research levels. In the newly launched reform by Chinese Academy of Sciences, IHB shall advance its mechanism and institutional innovation so as to meet the new requirements of social and economic development.
