Hubei Vice Governor Visits IHB

 
CAO Guangjing (L), vice governor of Hubei Province, visited the Museum for Aquatic Organisms, Nov. 7, 2014.

A seven-member delegation led by CAO Guangjing, vice governor of Hubei Province paid a visit to Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IHB) on Nov. 7, 2014. WANG Runtao, deputy secretary general of Hubei Provincial Peoples Government, as well as LI Ruiqin, deputy director-general of Hubei Environmental Protection Bureau were with him in the delegation.   

IHBs director Prof. ZHAO Jindong welcomed the visiting delegation. IHBs deputy director Prof. XU Xudong introduced the overview of IHB from the three aspects: personnel structure, platform construction, scientific contribution. In the discussion session, Prof. CAO Wenxuan introduced the monitoring data of eggs laid by wild Chinese sturgeon, and also explained the influence of the change of water temperature on the eggs laid by wild Chinese sturgeon.   
  

During his visit, Cao said that IHB has a long history with strong research capacities. Its strengths in water environment protection and ecological construction are prominent. It is hoped that more advanced technologies and achievements can be transformed and then introduced to the market. Cao also said that various methods shall be adopted to promote the construction of the ecological conservation zone. He named the natural conservation habitat of finless porpoises in Jianli and the conservation habitat of Chinese sturgeon in Yichang which aims to build itself as a state-level habitat. Cao hoped that IHB researchers can play active role in the protection of water ecology in Hubei.
