The 7th Symposium on Watershed Ecology was held in Xingshan county, Hubei province on Nov. 9, 2014.

The 7^th Symposium on Watershed Ecology was held in Xingshan county, Hubei province on Nov. 9, 2014. The symposium was organized by Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IHB). About 30 people from different institutions and universities across China attended the symposium.    

The symposium was chaired by IHB Prof. CAI Qinghua. He gave an oral presentation on the origin, background, development of watershed ecology, as well as the research progress in the study of rivers, reservoirs and watershed ecology in the Xiangxi River Ecosystem Experimental Station.    

Attendees introduced their respective research progress and expressed their gratitude for Prof. LIU Jiankang’s (CAS academician) encouragements. They also had in-depth discussion on the possible collaborations in watershed ecology.    

During the symposium, the Xiangxi River Ecosystem Experimental Station held its 15^th anniversary celebration. Prof. LIU Jiankang who is 98 years old wrote an inscription for the celebration.    

After the symposium, the attendees visited the Xiangxi River Ecosystem Experimental Station and its water floating platform.
