Professor from China Agricultural University Visits IHB

Prof. ZHANG Fusuo, director of Center for Resources, Environment and Food Security at China Agricultural University, paid a visit to IHB on March 30, 2015.

Prof. ZHANG Fusuo, director of Center for Resources, Environment and Food Security at China Agricultural University, paid a visit to Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IHB) on March 30, 2015. During his visit, he gave a lecture to introduce the Science and Technology Backyard at China Agricultural University (CAU).

In his lecture, Prof. Zhang introduced the current status of agriculture in China which is a high input and high output model with high resources and environmental costs. Over-fertilization has caused soil acidification in farmland which in turn caused the issues such as cadmium-polluted rice and bananas split.

Speaking of the Science and Technology Backyard at CAU, Prof. Zhang talked about how to make breakthrough in technologies in the process of production, how to apply these newly invented technologies to the practices of the farmers, and how to cultivate agricultural S&T personnel who can solve real agricultural issues.
