The Third National Workshop on Zebrafish Technology, organized by China Zebrafish Resource Center (CZRC), was held at Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IHB) during July 5 and 10, 2015. 22 participants from 20 institutes and universities attended the workshop.
The opening ceremony was chaired by Dr. PAN Luyuan from CZRC. Prof. SUN Yonghua, director of CZRC, gave a welcome speech and introduced the current status and development goals of the center.
The five-day workshop content included zebrafish breeding and husbandry, contruction of a zebrafish facility, early zebrafish development, whole-mount in situ hybridization, zebrafish genotyping, common disease of zebrafish and microinjection in zebrafish embryos. The courses put equal emphasis on the theoretic and technical objectives. The trainers explained and demonstrated the technical theories and experimental operations to the trainees. Combining lectures and laboratory exercise, the workshop helped the trainees to get a full picture of zebrafish research, and conventional laboratory techniques.
In order to meet the development of zebrafish studies in China, the CZRC launched the National Workshop on Zebrafish Technology. Since 2013, the workshop has held three sessions. It has promoted the level of laboratory techniques of zebrafish and the construction of zebrafish facilities.
