Deputy Mayor of Beihai visits IHB

 

A delegation led by LIU Xiang, deputy mayor of Beihai which is a prefecture-level city in the south of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, paid a visit to IHB on April 18, 2017.    

A delegation led by LIU Xiang, deputy mayor of Beihai which is a prefecture-level city in the south of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, paid a visit to Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IHB) on April 18, 2017.    

Prof. ZHAO Jindong, director of IHB, welcomed the visiting delegation. LIU Xiang, deputy mayor of Beihai, introduced the overview of Beihai and listed the demands that Beihai need in water environment protection and treatment, aquaculture in reservoir and large scale water area when it faced the new challenges against the background of One Belt and One Road initiatives and development in the economic zone of North Bay in Beihai.    

IHB researchers introduced their experiences accumulated in the constructed wetlands, ecological restoration technologies of water bodies, ecological fishery technologies in large scale water areas and aquaculture sewage treatment by using microalgae technologies. These experiences could be helpful when dealing with the water environment pollution in Beihai and the harmonious development of aquaculture in large scale water areas and water environment protection.    

On behalf of Beihai, LIU Xiang expressed his gratitude to IHB for its efforts made in the sewage purification project of Daguansha Sewage Treatment Plant and comprehensive treatment of water environment in Weizhou Island.     

The visiting delegation later visited the wetland park located at 3rd Road of Optical Valley, Wuhan.
