Actor PU Cunxin Shoots Video for Yangtze Finless Porpoises

Actor PU Cunxin posed a photo with the Yangtze finless porpoise at Baiji dolphinarium.

Invited by the Yangtze River Fishery Resources Management Committee under Ministry of Agriculture, PU Cunxin, Chinese actor who has served as chairman of China Theatre Association, paid a visit to Baiji Dolphinarium at Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of Chinese Academy of Sciences on June 2, 2017. During his visit, he shot a video to appeal more attention and efforts to be paid to the protection of Yangtze finless porpoises.   

Zhao Yimin, head of the Yangtze River Fishery Resources Committee, introduced the living status of the porpoises and the challenges existed in the protection of the porpoises. He also expressed his gratitude to Pu for all that he had done for the protection of the porpoises.    

Pu said that the porpoises were very lovely aquatic animals. Though he had participated in shooting videos for the protection of the porpoises, he could have had done more. He hoped this to-be-released video could tell the public more about the situations of the porpoises and appeal to them for the protection of the Yangtze ecosystem.    

Pu also said that baiji in the Yangtze River had left us, we should not let the Yangtze finless porpoise go the same way as baiji. As a volunteer of Yangtze finless porpoise, Pu wrote an inscription for Baiji Dolphinarium Save the porpoises and protect the Yangtze.   

Later, Pu visited the breeding area of the porpoises and took several video clips besides the pool. He also took a group photo with the faculty and students from the Research Group of Conservation Biology of Aquatic Animals at IHB, staffs and volunteers from Wuhan Baiji Conservation Foundation.
