IHB’s deputy director Prof. XIE Shouqi (R) conferred the letter of appointment to Prof. CHEN Yiyu (L) with Prof. GUI Jianfang.  

The Meeting of the Seventh Academic Committee of the State Key Laboratory of Freshwater Ecology and Biotechnology (SKLFEB) was held at Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of Chinese Academy of Sciences on Oct. 13, 2018.    

The meeting was hosted by IHB Prof. GUI Jianfang (CAS academician) who is the director of the SKLFEB’s Seventh Academic Committee. IHB’s deputy director Prof. YIN Zhan (presiding) gave a welcome speech at the meeting.    

IHB’s deputy director Prof. XIE Shouqi announced the name list of the seventh academic committee and conferred the letter of appointment to the members with Prof. Gui.   

Prof. Yin made a work report of the Lab at the meeting, giving a full introduction to the overview of the SKLFEB, its achievements and future goals.    

Prof. LI Tao and Associate Prof. WANG Haijun gave oral presentations on studies on the distribution pattern and evolutionary history of Myriophyllum spp. in the Yangtze Basin with integrative multi-omics approaches and regime shifts of Yangtze shallow lakes.   

In the discussion session, all the attendees interacted with each other on issues related to the development plans, management mechanisms, disciplinary directions, and personnel constructions of the Lab. 

Prof. Gui said in his closing remarks that the Lab shall be strengthened in its mechanism construction. “We should increase the proportion of young and middle-aged researchers and enhance the management of the Lab,” said Gui, “an effective communication mechanisms among the Lab members shall be established.”
