IHB’s deputy director XIE Shouqi introduced the preparation of the 9oth anniversary celebration of the institute. 

The 2019 Autumn Meeting on Strategic Development of Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of Chinese Academy of Sciences was held on November 1, 2019. More than 100 people including CAS academicians, directors, PIs and principals attended the meeting.  

The meeting centered on issues related to the disciplinary development, young scientists’ cultivation, personnel construction, performance evaluation and resources allocation. Director of each research center gave presentations to introduce their own work.  

Next year is the 90th anniversary of IHB. IHB’s deputy director XIE Shouqi introduced the preparation of the anniversary celebration. In free discussion session, Prof. CAO Wenxuan (CAS academician) gave suggestions on the development of macro and micro disciplines, field work and field station construction.  

Prof. ZHU Zuoyan (CAS academician) gave suggestions on the interdisciplinary studies and frontier development of disciplines, strengthening of cooperation with universities and other institutions. Prof. ZHAO Jindong (CAS academician) gave suggestions on the directions of research and the development of the state key laboratory.  

In his closing remarks, YIN Zhan said the institute’s leaders were open to the suggestions and encouraged the researchers to make more contributions to their research fields.
