New Faculty, Staff and Postdoc Orientation 2020

Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of Chinese Academy of Sciences offered a two-day orientation program for new faculty, staff and postdocs who joined the institute since 2018 during December 4 and 5.    

The program consisted of a training course and outdoor team building activities.    

The training course reviewed the 90 years development of the institute. XIE Shouqi, deputy director of IHB, gave a presentation on stories about generations of IHB scientists in pursuit of scientific truth.    

He also shared several poems, photos and paintings created by IHB faculty and students which impressed the attendees with the institute’s academic and culture atmosphere.    

ZENG Jing, deputy director of IHB, emphasized academic integrity as she illustrated several academic misconduct cases.    

Heads from the administration introduced the responsibilities and work procedures of each office.

The one-and-half day outdoor activities was set in Mulan Grassland. Basking in the warm sunshine, trainees became familiar with each other as they progressed with different activities. The awesome bonfire party hosted that evening climaxed the whole orientation program.    

IHB offers orientation program every year for the new hire to feel integrated into the institute. The outdoor activities help them build team bonding and improve overall morale.
