The Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences celebrated the birthday for 28 retired faculty and staff members on October 18, 2021.    

Of the faculty and staff members, six celebrated their ninetieth birthdays, 10 celebrated their eightieth birthdays, six celebrated their seventieth birthdays and six celebrated their sixtieth birthdays. As part of the list of the 10 people turning 80, ZHU Zuoyan, a CAS member, and his wife LIU Shijia were included.   

Alongside bright music, IHB directors wore heartwarming scarves for the elderly.   

“On behalf of the institute, I would like to send the best wishes to all of you who contributed a lot to the institute. Wishing you all long life and good health!” said YIN Zhan, director of IHB.    

In honor of the event, two IHB directors and representatives of the retired faculty and staff cut a three-layer cake together.
