Professor LIU Huanzhang Honored Zhu Li Yuehua Outstanding Teacher Award
Professor LIU Huanzhang was honored the Zhu Li Yuehua Outstanding Teacher Award 2021, according to the results recently released by the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Prof. Liu is a doctoral supervisor working at the Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is a member of the institute’s degree evaluation committee, the director of the institute’s Center for Aquatic Biodiversity and Resource Conservation, and the editor-in-charge of the Journal ACTA Hydrobiologica Sinica.
As a teacher of the course "Advanced Aquatic Biology" since 1994, he summarizes the new developments and theories of the subject content, adding the international frontier to the course teaching, and laying a solid foundation for students' research work. As a professor, he treats his students with respect, fosters scientific literacy in young people and encourages them to do innovative research. He has successively trained 19 PhDs and six MSc students.
He is mainly engaged in the research of fish evolutionary biology and fish conservation biology, and has made important contributions to the conservation of Chinese sturgeon, the 10-year fishing ban and the ecological protection of the Chishui River. Over the past five years, he has published more than 20 papers as first or corresponding author in international SCI journals.
The Zhu Li Yuehua Outstanding Teacher Award recognizes outstanding postgraduate teachers working at universities and institutes of the Chinese Academy of Sciences who demonstrate excellent teaching skills, undertake teaching reform, integrate science and education, teach well and achieve excellent results. In 2021, 100 recipients were selected for this award.
