On May 20th, the launch ceremony of the Hubei Science and Technology Week, themed "Embracing and Advocating Science," took place at the Ezhou International Convention and Exhibition Center. The Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences participated in this event.

At the venue, the institute's popular science exhibition booth showcased zebrafish, an experimental animal. Volunteers from the China Zebrafish Resource Center introduced relevant knowledge about zebrafish through popular science explanations, distribution of pamphlets, and on-site quizzes. They also distributed adorable zebrafish to actively engaged primary and secondary school students.

The Analysis and Testing Center of the institute and volunteers from the State Key Laboratory of Freshwater Ecology and Biotechnology brought optical microscopes, allowing the public to observe tissue and cell structures of fish and mice slices on-site, bringing them closer to the microscopic world of science.

From May 20th to 31st, the institute's Museum of Hydrobiological Sciences was open to the public. Museum guides led visitors to explore the specimen collections of Chinese sturgeon, Yangtze sturgeon, and white sturgeon, uncovering the stories behind these exhibits. Throughout the Science and Technology Week, the museum received nearly 300 visitors for guided tours.
