On September 19th, 2023, the kickoff ceremony for the 2023 National Science Day of Hubei took place in Jingzhou.

The Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences actively participated in the event. Populating their display with living samples of microalgal resources, volunteers educated the public about algae through interactive activities. They provided Ge Xian rice beverages for the public to taste and disseminated algal knowledge through exhibition boards, brochures, and microscope observations.

Volunteers from the China Zebrafish Resource Center at IHB engaged in live demonstrations of experimental animals, microscopic observations of zebrafish embryo development, and the distribution of informational pamphlets. To encourage participation, adorable zebrafish were gifted to elementary and middle school students through a lively and interactive Q&A session.

Throughout the National Science Day of Hubei from September 19th to 23rd, the Museum of Hydrobiological Sciences opened to the public. The initiative aimed to foster public understanding and appreciation of aquatic biodiversity and the importance of scientific research in this field.
