On March 21st, the Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences(IHB), convened the first meeting of the Academic Committee for the new term of 2024. The committee, comprising of 21 members, including CHEN Yiyu(CAS member) , CAO Wenxuan(CAS member) , ZHU Zuoyan(CAS member) , MENG Anming(CAS member) , ZHAO Jindong(CAS member) , GUI Jianfang(CAS member) , WEI Fuwen(CAS member) , WANG Yanxin(CAS member) , SONG Baoliang(CAS member) , director WANG Yanyi from the Wuhan Institute of Virology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, as well as director MIAO Wei, deputy director XIE Shouqi, HU Wei and XU Jun from IHB, gathered for this inaugural session, with 19 members present. LIANG Qiong, deputy director of the IHB, attended the meeting as well. 

During the first phase of the meeting, director MIAO Wei announced the list of the new Academic Committee members and presented them with appointment letters. 

In the second phase, titled "The First Meeting of the Academic Committee for 2024," chaired by professor CHEN Yiyu, director MIAO Wei reported on the IHB's work progress, including key achievements in 2023, advancements in institutional reform, and strategies for seizing technological high grounds. Members XU Zhen, HE Shunping, ZHANG Chengcai, XIE Shouqi, ZHOU Li, XU Jun, SUN Yonghua presented reports on significant scientific research tasks and facilities. Discussions revolved around institutional reform and major scientific research tasks, with constructive suggestions put forward. 

Professor CHEN Yiyu concluded the session by emphasizing the need to intensify efforts in implementing institutional reform and refining major scientific research tasks to address national needs and future development. 

Director MIAO Wei expressed gratitude to the Academic Committee for their support and guidance in institutional reform and scientific research task deployment, promising to thoroughly absorb and incorporate the experts' recommendations.
