On August 2, 2025, the China Ichthyological Society held its election conference and an academic symposium in Shanghai. Professor HE Shunping from the Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences was elected as the new chairman. This appointment recognizes his systematic and groundbreaking research on fish diversity.

Professor He's work, which has been published in top international journals, selected as one of "China's Top 10 Advances in Life Sciences," and honored with the "Ho Leung Ho Lee Prize," spans from the deep ocean to the high plateau and across hundreds of millions of years of evolution. His exceptional contributions have set a new benchmark for ichthyology in China and worldwide.
