On December 12, 2025, a warm and festive celebration was held at the Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences for retired staff marking milestone birthdays, including six 90-year-olds, six 80-year-olds, and other honorees turning 70 and 60. The activity center was decorated with lanterns, ribbons, and a large, shining Chinese character for "longevity".
IHB director MIAO Wei, along with other leaders and representatives, joined the retirees for the gathering. Each honoree was presented with a red longevity scarf and a commemorative gift.
In his address, Miao expressed deep gratitude for the retirees’ contributions to IHB’s development and shared updates on the institute’s recent progress and future goals. He reaffirmed IHB's commitment to supporting its retired community.
A photo presentation highlighted memorable moments from the honorees' careers, bringing back shared memories and sparking lively conversations. After singing "Happy Birthday," attendees enjoyed cake together.
