To ensure safety and stability during the 2026 Spring Festival period and to comprehensively identify and rectify potential safety hazards, the Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences recently organized a series of pre-holiday special safety inspections.

On February 10, XU Jun, deputy director of IHB, led a team to conduct safety inspections at the graduate student apartments. The inspection team focused on a detailed review of fire protection facilities, electrical wiring, and the use of prohibited electrical appliances in student dormitories. The team also visited and extended greetings to graduate students who would be staying at the institute during the Spring Festival.

Xu underscored the importance of safety, urging the Graduate Studies Office to track students' holiday plans and well-being, while tasking the General Administration Office with providing strong logistical support to ensure a safe and warm Spring Festival for those staying at the institute.

On February 12, Liang Qiong, deputy director of IHB, led an unannounced inspection team to various laboratory buildings. The team conducted on-site checks of offices, laboratories, and fish rearing facilities. Liang spoke with principal investigators to review holiday duty schedules and emergency preparedness. She stressed that all research groups must strictly follow duty rosters and ensure that before leaving for the holiday, proper measures are taken to secure laboratories, cybersecurity, and water and electrical systems. She called for rigorous efforts to prevent any safety incidents and maintain orderly operations throughout the holiday period.

Representatives from the General Administration Office and the Graduate Studies Office, along with relevant staff, participated in the inspections.
