On may 20th, the Joint Research Center for Algal Biology and Shanghu Ecology was formally established. The plaque conferring ceremony & the ceremony for appointing adjunct professors were held in Changshu Institute of Technology. IHB’s deputy director Prof. Xudong XU led a four-member delegation to attend this ceremony.  

The ceremony was hosted by Prof. Zhonggen SHEN, vice president of Changshu Institute of Technology. Prof. Dayou FU, president of Changshu Institute of Technology, IHB’s deputy director Prof. Xudong XU and Mr. Shishou LI, deputy mayor of Changshu Municipal Government addressed speeches respectively for the establishment of the research center.  

The research center will mainly focus on the research of cyanobacterial bloom and freshwater ecology in Lake Taihu, with the sustainable aquiculture, exploration and application of algae being taken into consideration. The center will be set up as a comprehensive and multidirectional research platform which serves for the cultural, educational, economic and social development of Changshu city.  

Prof. Xu unveiled the plaque of the research center with Prof. Pu XU, director of the State Key Laboratory of Applied Phycology in Suzhou city. Prof. Dayou FU, president of Changshu Institute of Technology presented the appointment letter for IHB Prof. Lirong SONG.
