Research Group on Domestication and Molecular Design Breeding on Precious and High-quality Fish

PI: Prof. Jie Mei (jmei@ihb.ac.cn)

General Introduction

We are mainly engaged in the research of domestication and molecular design breeding of precious and high-quality fish, with the main research object of the yellow catfish, which has no intermuscular bones and tender meat. We have systematically carried out the genetic basis and biotechnology manipulation research on the sex determination and important economic traits of fish, and established a fish genetic breeding research system integrating "cutting-edge basic research, scientific and technological innovation in key breeding technology, and studies on creation of high-yield and high-quality new varieties". We have cultivated the new aquatic varieties of yellow catfish "All-male No. 2" and the hybrid yellow catfish "Huangyou No. 1".
