Engineering Technology Research Center for Aquatic Plant Resources and Utilization of Hubei Province was found in May 2017 with the approval of Hubei Science and technology department. The center aims to investigate and sort out aquatic plant resources, carry out developmental research on excellent varieties of aquatic plants, protect aquatic plant resources, develop and utilize economic and environmental aquatic plant resources, and carry out genetic and biological research of aquatic plants. It contributes to the collection and conservation of aquatic plant germplasm resources in China and even in the world.  

At present, the center has 45 sets of research instruments and equipment, which worth RMB 18.34 million yuan, and more than 30 R&D personnel who exchange with both domestic and overseas scientists for 38 times. Up to now, the center has undertaken 30 research projects, including nine national projects, 18 authorized patents and three monographs.  

The center has obtained a project fund of RMB 6.32 million yuan. It has cooperated with enterprises to develop new technologies for the protection and development of aquatic plant resources. Many demonstration projects have been set up to promote social and economic development.
