The Hubei Oceanography & Limnology Society is a provincial, academic, and non-profit social organization voluntarily formed by relevant institutions and individuals across Hubei Province engaged in oceanological and limnological research. It has several specialized committees, including the Aquatic Biology Committee, the Geology and Geomorphology Committee, and the Hydrology and Water Conservancy Committee. The society currently has 309 members, including 4 academicians, 200 members with senior professional titles, and 109 with intermediate professional titles.

The purpose of the society is to unite oceanological and limnological workers across the province, to promote the prosperity and development of oceanological and limnological science and technology in Hubei Province, and to accelerate the transformation of science and technology into productive forces. It also aims to strengthen academic exchange in limnological research in Hubei Province, keep abreast of the latest developments in the discipline, and promote disciplinary development. Its main activities include academic seminars, science popularization, and scientific and technological services.
