  Personal Profile 

  Dr. Xuezhi Zhang is a professor and director of the Laboratory for Downstream Process Technology and Engineering of Microalgae (LDPTEM). Dr. Xuezhi Zhang received his Ph.D. in environmental science from Nankai University in 2006. He completed his post-doc training at Arizona State University on water and wastewater treatment using ultrafiltration membrane, and microalgal harvesting. In 2009 he worked at Arizona State University as a research assistant professor, and obtained his Professional Engineering (Environmental) License for the State of Arizona in 2014.  

    

  In 2014 Dr. Xuezhi Zhang joined the Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences as a professor. His current main research interests is to better understand the influence of algal morphological characteristics and culture medial properties on microalgae harvesting and culture media recycling, and to develop cost-effective and energy-efficient microalgae harvesting processes using advanced membrane filtration, sedimentation, dissolved air flotation (DAF) and centrifugation techniques.
